built faster than anyone else at all costs. They work long hours and push other people to the point of alienating friends and family in their obsession with getting the plane in the air. To listen to them and observe their behavior, you would think that their very life depended on finishing their plane in record time.

The reality is that no one is building this aircraft as a business. It is a hobby. It is an endeavor that is supposed to be enjoyed. If something develops that slows down the progress for a while, it shouldn’t disrupt the builder’s entire world. If it does, then that builder is going to make mistakes. If he is paying someone to do some of the work for him it can be expensive. He is going to allow the delays to upset him. His mental focus and attitude will degrade in favor of speed and solving the problem causing the delay at all costs, and the quality of his work will show it. Mistakes will be made and mistakes in this endeavor can have devastating consequences.

I believe it is safe to say that NO aircraft program has EVER gone directly from the initial design to the finished aircraft without unexpected, frustrating and costly problems and delays. Even huge aerospace companies like Boeing and Lockheed with their best efforts never can get it totally right the first time and it often takes years and years to work out seemingly small problems. Even the Boeing 777 which was designed using the best of the best of everything and all the money in the world had problems that had to be worked out after the first flight. Surprises the engineers did not expect. Even the space shuttle, as highly developed as it was, Blew Up, because of an engineering snafu!

I am proud of the fact that I was able to take a design that the original designer gave up on and

make a good aircraft out of it. It has taken a long time. There have been some folks that have become very frustrated because of some of the delays. No one has been more frustrated than Toni and myself. As hard as I have tried, I have not been able to foresee all of the sources of delay that have frustrated us all. No one who has stayed the course has lost their investment with us and a lot of people who invested nothing with us have seen their investments salvaged by our efforts. And no one has ever been physically harmed by anything I have done ( not counting the three guys in the bar in Ouray, Colorado of course).

The only delays we are currently experiencing are related to very GOOD things. Things that relate to reducing build time and improving quality and the safety of the plane. These delays will net out positively in that they will save the individual builder more time than the delay is taking. This is vastly different from the years in the past when we were having to find solutions to HUGE and very serious problems. We no longer have any serious problems, only minor delays. I am working grueling hours in an effort to put even those behind us. I know that when you fly your Glass Gooses, the joy will quickly fade the memory of these truly minor delays. There is really nothing like it.

Now that we are back from Florida, the wheels have all been put into motion to return our production to the status it was in 4 years ago. Materials have been ordered and are already arriving. By the 31st of May we will finally get in a shipment of foam that will enable us to get the composite production back in full swing. I am training people as fast as I can and I have really been lucky to gain some good people and have a source of more help as I can work it in.
